Living room modernisation...
The brief from this client was to modernise the living room whilst keeping a cosy atmosphere at the same time as being practical with young children. For this we first produced 3 digital mood boards all containing different ideas and colour schemes that were relative to the brief. These are shown below.
From this we then met up with the client to discuss the ideas further and produce a final mood board with materials, wallpaper and paint choices to suit. With this project we used a combination of two proposals.
For the paintwork we used a Farrow and Ball 'skimming stone' lifting the walls from a yellow cream to an up to date light grey, keeping the woodwork white to highlight these features if the room.
The Graham and Brown wallpaper added texture to the back wall with a warm grey colour to keep the room looking homely and inviting. You can see the paint transformation below completed by a decorating company recommended by ourselves. (Please email us for a quote).
The choice of furniture was our Modern country collection. The client didn't want mirrored furniture due to having young children and the maintenance of finger prints. With this collection we were able to compromise by keeping a mirrored pattern on the front at the same time as having a brushed grey wooden surface; finished with glass handles to keep the room up to date. We chose to accessorise with blush pink and statement lighting to add texture and warmth.
The client then opted to have the dining room designed also. For this we wanted both rooms to flow as they were one after the other. We kept the same colour scheme using brushed wood furniture and a light grey soft velvet on the dining chairs. This modernised the room whilst also in keeping with the rustic theme.
